MEDICAL BRIGADES
Access to health care is scarce in rural areas of Panama and Honduras.
Often, only one nurse is available for a population of five to seven communities. Our organization coordinates logistics and efforts with qualified general medical and dental professionals in conjunction with healthcare students and MINSA PANAMÁ to provide medical care, dental care, vaccinations, physical therapy, and respiratory care to all members of these communities.
In addition, national and foreign students participate in educational talks about personal care and hygiene, dental hygiene, dehydration, and HIV. All our health care and medications are free. We transport the emergency patients from the mountain to the nearest hospital. Finally, we donate any unused medicine to county health centers before we leave.
